Abstract

The research work developed in the years 2023 and 2024 focused on the construction of an environmental
culture around the use of waste through artistic expressions is reported, a solid bibliographic review was carried
out, looking for the experiences that have been implemented within educational institutions, the research
approach in which the bibliographic search was focused was on research with a qualitative approach, under a
socio-critical paradigm and using the Participatory Action Research method. The main findings revealed the
existence of inadequate solid waste management in the educational institution, attributed to the lack of a solid
environmental culture and the absence of organized environmental management programs. However, the
implementation of the didactic strategies based on art education and the reuse of solid waste contributed
significantly to the development of greater environmental awareness and the adoption of sustainable practices
by students and the educational community in general. In conclusion, the project highlights the importance of
integrating innovative pedagogical approaches that involve art and creativity in the teaching of environmental
issues, in order to promote citizen education committed to caring for the environment and sustainable
development.
